For the upcoming Summer school holidays we have great youth SURF CAMPS based in Whale Bay, Raglan. Please enquire for more details or a registration form.

DECEMBER YOUTH CAMPS 2009

Thursday 17th Dec - Tues 22nd Dec

(Arrive & depart on any day. Come for 1 day, 3days or join the whole 6 day/5night camp - whatever suits you!)

The camps include 24hr adult supervision, daily meals, accommodation, surf instruction, use of a board and wetsuit & beach & town transportation.

All meals are prepared by our professional chefs (the food is first rate!!!). This includes some serious BBQ's!! The students' accommodation is at the Karioi Outdoor Adventure Centre which is located near the beach in Whale Bay. All surfing equipment is available and included in the cost of the camp. The main focus of the camps is of course on SURFING... and is for students of all levels from absolute beginners through to the more advanced.

Everyone receives plenty of coaching suitable to their level during the camp. There is also a big emphasis on water safety and beach awareness. If the conditions are not suitable for surfing we have a wide variety of other fun activities available including a surfboard factory tour and surfboard maintenance and repair module...Waignaro hot springs, mountain trekking, kayaking etc.

The Raglan Surfing School is the first surf school in New Zealand to be recognised and affiliated with Water Safety NZ and Surfing New Zealand. Our instructors are experienced surfing coaches with current lifesaving certificates & also members of the Raglan Lifesaving Club. This ensures that the camps are safe and educational as well as fun and adventurous.

Option 'Super Keen': 6day/5night package - $589

Day option, 9am-4pm, includes lunch for $119 (add $15 if dinner is required)

DIRECTIONS

BY CAR.....From the (SH1) motorway go west on the (SH23) to Raglan....when you get to Raglan turn left onto Wainui Road for 8kms to Whale Bay..at the small roundabout turn left onto Whaanga Road. We are the second driveway on the left - 5b Whaanga Road. Look for the Karioi Outdoor Centre & Raglan Surf School sign at the bottom of the drive... go right up the driveway (about 500 meters to the office) to the camp facility to drop off participants. Parking is back 100m in the main carpark.

BY BUS ...We will pick up any students in Raglan Township who arrive into Raglan by bus from Hamilton. This is a FREE service.

BY PLANE.... We can also pick up students from the Hamilton Airport - we charge $80 each way for this service.

WHAT TO BRING

These are items to bring to the surfing camp. We look forward to great weather and surf. The following is a list of item's students will want to bring along.

Clothing incl.. Warm Jacket & other clothes to keep you warm

Note: Cell phones will only get reception at the beach when you are surfing - not at base camp. There is a phone & phone cards available at camp.

YOUR ACCOMMODATION

Facilities at the Karioi Lodge & home of the Raglan Surf School where the camp is based include sauna, sports barn with basketball and table tennis, ropes course, bush walks, pool table, darts board, broadband internet, sky tv with all channels, glow worms, look out, flying fox zipline & loads more!

You'll share a room with 3 others (single sex rooms)- all bedding is provided for you. All food is cooked for you too but bring snacks if you're a hungry youth!
